DA-BFAR CAR through Provincial Fishery Office Lamut, Ifugao facilitated the distribution of Tilapia Fingerlings and Feeds to our 46 Hingyon fisherfolk beneficiaries under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program. This activity is part of our Municipal Agriculture Programs to address the need for food sufficiency and sustainable livelihood in our municipality.
The distribution was conducted yesterday, March 19, 2024, at the Municipal grounds. Our municipal leaders Hon. Florencio B. Nalula and SB Member and Committee on Agriculture Chairman Avelino Dinamling, joined the activity together with our DA partners Mr. Eumic C. Culimay, Aquaculturist II and Ifugao PFO Designate, and Mr. Jerahmeel B. Lugmoc BFAR – SAAD Area Coordinator. Our Municipal Agriculture Office headed by Mr. Andres Dimoc Jr. assisted in the distribution and IEC.
The SAAD Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) is essentially anchored in poverty incidence reduction, and local agricultural production activation, through livelihood assistance for marginalized Filipino farmers and fishers.
The program is committed to the development of marginalized Filipino communities by improving their economic conditions through the creation of livelihood opportunities in the agriculture and fishery sectors.
Hingyon rice fields ecosystem is conducive to Rice-fish systems farming. This allows the production of fish and other aquatic animals, from the same rice field area and generally without causing reductions in rice yields. The fish is the source of animal protein and is important for household nutrition and farm income.
