The Sangguniang Bayan of Hingyon approved Resolution No. 221 on November 21, 2024, officially placing the municipality under a state of calamity due to the effects of Super Typhoon Pepito on residential structures, agriculture, and others.
This declaration was made in response to the recommendation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), as outlined in MDRRMC Resolution No. 8, following the assessment of initial reports submitted by Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (BDRRMCs).
With this declaration, the municipality can now access the 30% Quick Response Fund allocated from the 5% of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (MDRRM Fund). This fund will be utilized for immediate relief operations and rehabilitation assistance.

Typhoon Pepito has left us with damaged buildings, crops and rice fields, landslides, road obstructions, and displaced families. Communication network/internet connections has also become unstable and power was interrupted.
As of 5:00 P.M., additional reports on damaged houses and crops were received. The MDRRMC-EOC is still connecting with the different BDRRMCs for situation reports. Validation of reports and clearing of landslides will resume tomorrow.
