Gotad ad Hingyon

Gotad is performed on the 8th day of a 9-days BAYAH by the rich people referred to as the “kadangyan”. When a family is “Bumayah” or host the festivity for 9-days, he invites the people in the community to help in the pounding of rice, brewing of rice wine, cutting of firewood, and preparing the animals such as carabaos and pigs prior to the official start of the celebration. Nightly dancing will be held from early nightfall until the dawn. On the 7th day, immediate family members of the bumayah conduct a house-to-house invitation of their relatives called “ila” by sounding the gong for the “hida” on the 9th day. The animals are butchered in the “hida” on the 9th day of the Bayah with corresponding rites and rituals same as the “Hongan di tagu”. The 9-days festivity is characterized with drinking rice wine, dancing, and chanting.
However, today the Gotad is adopted naming the municipal festivity in the Municipality of Hingyon held every 2nd week of April annually on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The featured activities are the following: cultural presentations of songs and dances and ethnic games; it includes modern sports, concerts, trade and agro-fairs, beauty pageants and any other activities not contrary to morals and good values.

Hingyon Foundation Day

The Hingyon Foundation Day is held to commemorate and celebrate the day when the Municipality obtained its corporate existence by virtue of BATAS PAMBANSA Bilang 239, under P.D No. 1527. It is celebrated by all Government officials and employees, public school teachers, NGOs and other institutions in the municipality and is treated as a regular working holiday.

Hongan di Pageh

In the different stages of the heirloom rice production, there are different activities that tourists/visitors may engage in to experience being a rice farmer dubbed as “agro-tourism”. Meanwhile, tourists / visitors who are culturally inclined may attentively observe the performance of the corresponding rites observed at the rice growth stages. The conduct of the respective rites is believed to ensure excellent growth of the rice until harvest season.

Tungo ad Bangtinon

A fiesta of the barangay held every year where constituents enjoy having a bonding through cultural sports. Everyone is encouraged to show their talents and skills by joining their preferred traditional sports.

Binagu’on Festival

A festival in the barangay held every September annually. A festival to unite the people of barangay Bitu through sportsmanship, cultural variety shows, ethnic games, ethnic songs and parlor games.

Ulpi ad Cababuyan Northern

To witness the celebration of finished planting season of native rice. The locals are dancing and singing with gladness after the long work in the ricefields. They also perform most of their cultural activities like native dance, beating the gong, sing huhud and alim and friendly competition of traditional games.

A barangay festival held every April of each year to strengthen the bond of the community thru traditional games and display of cultural activities.

Holyat ad Mompolia

A festival held every April of each year commemorating the traditional and cultural activities of the community. It serves as an education for the youths and the new generation.

Holyat ad Piwong

Holyat is an Ifugao term for fiesta. It is composed of different shows and traditional event/games like bultung (wrestling), native dance, native songs, akkad, and a parade of each purok consisting of 3. This event shows how knowledgeable the people each purok is in terms of the traditional culture.

Hagophop ad Southern Cababuyan | Poblacion

This is a 3-day activity held following the heirloom rice production calendar, every April each year – when rice transplanted has panicle initiation at 5ft high. Prior to the fiesta, the Hagophop ritual is performed asking the deities to protect the rice plants from pests, diseases and birds and from other destruction. Activities include competition of traditional games, cultural parade, native dance, hudhud (chant), skills competition and other related activities associated with the daily routine of the community, eg. Pounding rice, chopping fuelwood, etc.

Tuldag ad Anao

Barangay fiesta held to celebrate cultural events and traditions. Activities include traditional sports fest and a community lunch.
